Couples can make their way down to the event can also take the time to browse through the various holiday packages offered by the travel firms that are also taking part in the event. You’ll never know if there might be a great honeymoon package that will blow your socks away!

Couples looking for a solid, tried and tested kompang group for their wedding procession should read on. Seri Pengantin has done some research and we have identified 6 kompang groups that we think are the “creme of the crop” and have the skill, stamina and lungs to add the extra oomph to a wedding banquet.
Some of these kompang groups have been around for ages and may have even existed since our parents’ time while others are relatively new, having recently formed at the various community centres and schools that dots our sunny island. Whatever it is, they have all joined kompang competitions before and most of them have performed at weddings and other functions.
The kompang groups that we are featuring below are what we call the “traditionalists or purists”, meaning they focus a lot on their song composition and the kompang arrangements. They may or may not have barongan (kuda-kepang) to go along with their performances. Some have also diversified to include influences such as gendang and chimes while others have sought to focus solely on the quality of their kompang beats.
Kumpulan Kompang Nurul Iman
A veteran in the Kompang scene in Singapore, Kumpulan Kompang Nurul Iman has many followers and have done many performances at the various wedding fairs organised by MegaXpress and Orange Events over the past few years.
Kumpulan Kompang Syabab has been around for many years under the tutelage of Mr Ali Osman. The group has wowed many people with their fusion kompang beats and fantastic khalifah. They have plenty of experience performing at weddings and events and is definitely one of the top kompang groups in Singapore.

Kumpulan Kompang Nurul Ihsan
This group has been around since 1975 and is one of the top kompang groups in Singapore. They have won numerous competition and have garnered many awards over the years. Recently, they have also organised a kompang competition and had taken part in this year’s Chingay festival.
Congratulations to Mohd Adnan Bin Mohd Saaid (aka Yan Shota) for winning Seri Pengantin’s inaugural “Most Adorable Couple” contest. It could have been the matching purple tops, the sunshades, the beautiful background or just the natural and spontaneous shot of a couple that is madly in love that could have enticed the public to vote for you.
Winner of Seri Pengantin's "Most adorable couple" contest
You have won 4 Golden Village movie tickets which should reach your mailbox by next week. Enjoy the movie and thank you once again for supporting Seri Pengantin, the premier wedding blog for Singapore Malays.
For those who missed the chance to take part, stay tuned for more contests coming your way in the near future.
Wedding guest books and fanciful wedding trays aka “dulangs” are all the rage nowadays and if you are in the market for one, read on. Zudyra Creations & Wedding Services is holding their very first in-house wedding showcase on 5 May 2012 and you can expect to see plenty of colourful and customised guest books and very elegant wedding trays.
Zudyra Creations & Wedding Services holding their showcase on 5 May 2012
Unlike some ready-made guest books which can be bought over the shelf, all of Zudyra’s wedding guest books are painstakingly hand-made with loves of love and oodles of creativity. She’s a one-woman creative genius and all her designs are modern and unique.
Something unique that Zudyra Creations is offering is the “one day wedding guestbook service”, which I think will be very popular. On top of having a customised guestbook, Zudyra herself will be stationed at your wedding event and taking live photos of your guests while they are writing in the guestbook. The pictures will be printed on the spot and walla.. no more guessing who was the person who wished you well for your wedding.
More details about this and other services that Zudyra provides can be found on its official website, www.zudyracreations.com.
The showcase will also feature Hyda Looks Bridal and Sixty7Grains Photography but the main highlight will definitely on Zudyra and her creations. Entrance is free and you don’t need to register beforehand. Just drop by if you are around the area and I’m sure Zudyra will welcome you with open arms.

Couples looking for an alternative form of entertainment for their wedding banquet should give Panca Irama a consideration. The group is made up of several very talented ladies and gentlemen who will sing and dance their way to your hearts!
They specialise in singing evergreen (oldies) songs as such as Gurindam Jiwa but what sets them apart is their dance moves which I must admit are very entertaining.
Their performances are always very interesting and eye-catching and come complete with very innovative props and equipments such as paper umbrella and fans to further bring out the atmosphere.
Seri Pengantin have watched them perform a couple of times and they never fail to light up the atmosphere with their very good selection of songs, their dance moves (which are well choreographed) and their superb vocals.
Have a look at their video singing Maher Zain’s Insyallah.
In fact, they won the “Tiru Suara P.Ramlee” duet category competition organised by Malay Heritage Centre back in 2009. To win the award, they can’t be that bad right?
Furthermore, two of their singers are taking part in the ongoing Anugerah V so keep your eyes peeled just in case they get to perform live on TV.
Keep a lookout for these two members of Panca Irama on Suria
Panca Irama’s service is also not that expensive. They are slightly more expensive than karaoke services but are cheaper than the Malay traditional bands who are currently charging around $1,500.
Ever thought of having a wedding banquet at a restaurant by the sea with the sound of waves as a soothing soundtrack and the scenic waters off Tanah Merah as a beautiful backdrop? If yes, keep yourselves free on 1st May 2012 and head down to Gurame Indonesian Restaurant for their open house on Tuesday, 1st May 2012.
Poster for Wedding Fiesta which will be held at Gurame Indonesian Restaurant
Details are as follows:
Event name: Wedding Fiesta @ Gurame
Location: 11 Changi Coast Walk, Singapore 499740
Cost: $25 per person
With such a scenic place, what better than to have a professional photographer to capture all the beautiful moments? Theme Photography, who no longer needs any introductions, will also be taking part in the show and showcasing their works and packages.
Bridal outfits that will be on display during the event will come from Zul Radi Bridal Couture. Other than models showcasing their various bridal collections, Zul Radi’s personal Facebook profile also showed that there will be a mini-competition of sorts. It is called “Dewa-Dewi 2012″ and the finals will be held at 4pm at the restaurant. We think that the competition will most probably be about uncovering the best looking couple or models but if you want to know more about it, come down to the event on the day itself. Oh, Marina Yusoff will be hosting the event!
As in all beautiful places, the restaurant is not easy to reach. There are no bus services to the place so please get ready to pay for taxi or rent/borrow/beg a car for a day. So while couples may be mesmerized by the location, please do consider the implications for those you are going to invite to your wedding. It could be a little inconvenient for those without personal means of transport.
But hey, this could be a very unique wedding, and different from the usual void-decks and CCs.
If you think May is going to be a quiet month for wedding-related shows, think again. MegaXpress is back with their 3rd fair this year and it is titled “Bridal & Travel and Indonesia Today Singapore 2012”. The title is sure a mouthful but at least those who intend to visit the event will know what to expect.
If MegaXpress follows its tried and tested strategy, expect ¼ of the hall to be allocated for weddings, with the rest being allocated for Indonesian knick-knacks, travel agents, a big stage with several shows by local and veteran artistes and also a food corner.
Details of the event are as follows:
Event name: Bridal & Travel and Indonesia Today Singapore 2012
Date: 3-6 May 2012
Location: Singapore Expo Hall 5

So far, we managed to confirm that Farah Diana Wedding & Catering Services will be taking part. This will be their second fair this year, a break from their usual one-fair-a-year strategy. Only the company would know the reason behind the change in strategy but business must be good for them to be willing to spend cash to take part in the MegaXpress wedding fair.
Below is a snapshot of the update found on Farah Diana Wedding & Catering Services’ Facebook page. Seri Pengantin will continue to monitor the different social media platforms and try to identify others who are participating in the event.

Many wedding services providers nowadays like to provide everything in a package but sometimes a little bit of mix-and-match can be magical and result in a more customised wedding. Seri Pengantin began monitoring the various social media channels, including Facebook, blogs and Multiply and we believe that these are the 3 most popular companies that focuses on wedding decor only.
Decorama Wedding services
Decorama Wedding Services needs no mention obviously. The company, which has its warehouse in Ubi, is one of the most popular decor provider and has provided countless numbers of wedding dais all over Singapore. From simple akad nikah dais to super grand 15-17ft dais complete with rows and rows of fresh flowers and canopy, Decorama has the skill and experience to provide a wedding with a special touch of glamour and elegance. It could be a tad bit more expensive that its competitors but hey, you are paying for the services of a reputable company.
Below are some of Decorama’s latest wedding dais, as posted on their Facebook page.
Kasaisayang Weddings
Another company that has been making waves in the Malay wedding decoration business is Kasaisayang Weddings. The company has been steadying making a name for itself with stunning wedding dais with a variety of concepts and colour schemes for couples to choose from. From outdoor simple elegant dinner weddings to elaborate and colourful lunch banquets, Kasaisayang has time and time again delivered superb results and garnered much following along the way.
Hurry if you’re planning to hold your wedding next May as Kasaisayang only has 4/5th May slots left. The company is popular and definitely going places.
Another company to consider is Saiful Imran, whose elegant and intimate approach to wedding decorations has made them an increasingly popular alternative to Decorama or Kasaisayang. All of its decorations are done tastefully, up-to-date and in the most elegant manner which results in a visually stunning masterpiece. They have been active marketing themselves and will be showing their latest dais at Versari Ade’s upcoming wedding show on 15 April at the Singapore Flyer. Keep a lookout for them.
